Holley Murphy

  Holley Cash Murphy has served the students of Etowah County Schools since 1993 as a special education teacher at Ivalee Elementary School (1993-97) and John Jones Elementary School (1997-2016) in the areas of resource and low incidence before moving into the field of special education administration as Assistant Director of Special Education in 2016. While teaching at John Jones Elementary, Mrs. Murphy was voted Teacher of the Year for 2015-2016.

Having graduated from Southside High School in 1988, Mrs. Murphy is proud to be a product of Etowah County Schools.  She is a 1993 graduate of Jacksonville State University and a 1995 graduate of the University of Alabama where she earned BS of Ed. and M.A. degrees in Special Education with certifications in Emotional Conflict, Mental Retardation, and Mild Learning Behavior Disorders respectively.  She received Elementary Education certification in 2009 and Administrative certification in 2016 from Jacksonville State University. She cites working with special needs students and their families as a true joy in her life. 

Mrs. Murphy is a community minded individual who is a longtime volunteer for Gadsden Service Guild, United Way of Etowah County and Girl Scouts of North Central Alabama. She and her husband, Hal, are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters, Anna Grace and Natalie.
